In the last election 94% of East Ukraine voted for Victor Yanukovych (the Russian guy) and that was before the coup which disposed Victor Yanukovych (then (Russian) prime minister of Ukraine) and installed Arseniy Yatsenyuk (a Jewish-Romanian).
So how many in East Ukraine do you think would vote for Russia now? 99.999%? Obviously, East Ukraine is more Russian than mother Russia and they they are making it known that they are prepared to vote with their guns if it comes to that.
Russians will not stand idly by and let Russians get taken over and slaughtered by anyone. Obama and everyone else knows this and are keeping well away. The sooner the world recognizes Russia for what it is and moves on the better.
So what happens next? Fortunately, Putin is playing chess rather than war. Most likely, he will wait for winter and impose his own sanctions by turning off the gas. Then you will have 99.999% of Europeans voting to have the gas turned back on - and who gives a stuff about East Ukraine anyway.
