40 years ago everyone had low fences. Now almost everyone has high fences. In that time it was clear people wanted to remove themselves.

I partly beleive it is because as people gained more wealth they wanted to protect it.

I used to be very chatty etc but life takes its toll and enjoy solitude and quiet a lot. HC is good for that. You can engage at will and turn off without apology.

People cant beleive I am very quiet at home.

If people come up to me and start spouting something impersonal I simply say "Im well thanyou, and how are you?" They soon realise their manners are lost.

I think a Paul Hogan "Say G'day" campaign should be run to remind us of who we were. All OZs nationalities can be involved. Lets re embrace it. Not for tourism but our own well being and solidarity as a country.
