It's only in the light of history that fools are revealed and Howard is shaping as the fool who isolated Australia from non-anglo cultures and lost us our emerging markets and turned us back into a cringing little white man island. We are extraordinarily at risk economically but not militarily. That might come if we end up hosting US forward weapons installations.
The Australian voters may not be discriminating, may disparage the critics and dissidents, may carry Howard and his old wave for another term, but history will condemn him.
