whereu,
you say,
if your kids came home and "came out" as Christians, would you think you failed as a parent, ur would you be glad that they didn't turn out to be like most kids today.
taughtbuffet
I have two children.
One is a devout Christian and the other is decidedly anti-religion.
They have both chosen roles in life which involve "caring for and loving their neighbours". They could have both chosen roles that would have been more financially rewarding, but find their current roles very fulfilling.
They don't agree with each other's religious positions but their love for each other I'm very happy to say is above this.
I sincerely hope that we have taught our children to think for themselves and believe that they are both very capable of doing that (from a early age:) )
I don't think that we have failed either as a parent, and believe that they are equally extremely valuable
i say,
i think you misunderstood what i was trying to say,
i certainly don't think you failed any of your children and i certainly don't believe any child is more valuable than another,
what i was trying to say, is, "what is so wrong with Christian religious instruction"
it's hard enough teaching a child maths, if they don't want to learn, they will not learn, how much harder would it be to teach a child religion if they had no interest.
most Athiests in this forum think that religion is the biggest threat to our kids in the school and the only way to protect them is to eliminate the chaplains.
Whereu, you are a good person and you have brought your children up in a loving environment, my comments about if someone would think they failed if their kids "came out" as christians was directed at those who think that religion is the biggest problem facing their kids.
