Sorry bellcurve I have to disagree...the HIP did not help Australia avoid recession in any way. All it was successful in was sending dozens of family owned businesses to the wall that were already in the industry, it succeeded in ramping up the importation of fibreglass insulation at the expense of locally manufactured insulation as they could not keep up with the sudden demand, and caused house fires along with loss of life. Oh, and there was tonnes of unused insulation left to rot and send more businesses bankrupt because they had already bought it when Labor had to dump the whole thing because it was a disaster!
Yep another grand Labor initiative thought out on the back of a napkin at a boozy lunch paid for by the taxpayer!
