without bulk billing, caj gets
85% rebate -$5 + $7 + $x if chosen to increase pricing.
currently
95% bulk billed
each MRI test is about $300 to $400 a service, hence on MRI tests the missing bulk billing means $30 - 40, unlikely to be made up by whatever fees caj is to introduced.
Also, now that GP is not free, patients with light ailment may choose not to pay for the tests to save the extra 2 visits (1 to radiologist and 1 back to the GP to hear the result) and simply get alternative treatment if possible.
Patients in deep need for the test have little choice of course, but it is certainly foreseeable that some fat is to be trimmed off CAJ's margin.
Consolidation in the sector does provide some upside.
Overall, I do begin to think this budget is a BAD news for CAJ. I just offloaded 60% of my holding. Held since 4.1 cents.... sigh.
