I know. Total actually bid to get the block back but PVD won out. You may just have to ply DN with a lot of truth serum to get to the bottom. But PVD's win apparently p*ssed off a few guys in Paris. Yet the key point here is that Gabon doesnt deal in a 'logical' way. They kicked out a big Chinese group last year, just back handed a couple of mini-majors and it would appear Total is back on their 'preferred' list after being sidelined (?) for a year or 2 in the deal flow.
Keep an eye out for the XOM well being drilled (soon) immediately south (10km) from the Nkembe block.
