god and communication

Why is God so dreadful at communicating?
If he is God, then why can't he give us a bible that is clear, concise and without any ambiguities? It is this that gives us so many different flavours of Christianity many of which being mutually exclusive.
It is this problem that makes many of us believe the earth is less than 10,000 years old. Is that what God wants?
Why can't he speak to us directly so that I can record his voice?
If there is a new version of the bible, is it the word of God, just like the original, or the word of the translator?

These are elementary questions for sure, but if these can't be answered then why do we bother with the more complex ones?
