They are 2 different issues. The people of working age may very well be hard working. The pensioners may very well have been hard working when they were taxpayers too. Now they are enjoying the fact that Costello made them tax exempt. The very young are too young to work to pay tax but they will one day move from paying no tax to paying lots of tax while you are living on your tax free investments.
