When you have to pay $100k+ to go to a prestigious university (as opposed to HECS' merit-based system), or perhaps $40k to go to a bottom end one, the opportunity is most definitely not the same.
If you benefited from a free, or heavily subsidised (HECS) university education, supporting this policy is pure and utter selfishness.
