Best practice from institutional shareholders viewpoint is for directors to only ever buy, as selling often sends a very negative signal as to a company's prospects. Buy-only directors are either planning to run a successful company in perpetuity with dividends in prospect, or to be taken over (not at low levels though).
NG not only has bought, but rather than a token amount, he is demonstrating he has plenty of skin in the game, and this is at least one box ticked. If the company can improve / rectify its operational performance, then expect a solid re-rating (may take 3-12 mths), perhaps back to the $2.50-$3/sh level, notwithstanding POG.
