If we are so much smarter why:

Have we not cured the common cold.

Heart attacks are decimating our populations when they were rare a hundred years ago.

Cancer will effect the lives of one in three men now when it was hardly known a century ago.

Our diet is bad and getting worse.

Dangerous drugs are routinely approved for use "because the manufacturer says they are safe".

Obesity surrounds us.

We haven't the vaguest idea how to combat Alzheimer's but it too is increasing exponentially in the community.

The only reason our expected life span is increasing is because we have learned to control the great contagious plagues, our cars and roads are better and our paras and surgeons have skills never dreamt of fifty years ago.

But our personal health has never been worse

Tell me how much smarter we are again.
