If Abbott and Hockey stick together, I don't think Turnbull can win in a leadership contest. Also, I would think Hockey, out of self interest, will do everything he can, to deny Turnbull the leadership because Hockey fancies himself as a future leader.
The situation will change if the Victorian Liberal government suffers a disastrous defeat in the November 2013 election.
