Yes scimitar1, H and MRC are potential new markets for BC but black coal is also a potential output from this processed feedstock.
Obviously Chainsaw1 has not done his research, otherwise it would be apparent to him that brown coal is far cheaper to mine than black coal while some black coal producers can not operate at a profit at $70/t Exergen believe they can.
I guess if I went to a Hunter pub someone with a smart phone could find this old article which states:
"the process was competitive as long as the Newcastle coal price, currently at about $US70 a tonne, stayed above $US55."
