Don't blame Islam. This nonsense has been going on in this broader region at least for as long as records have been kept. In other words some thousands of years at the very least.
In truth, ISIS stands for just about everything that the prophet Mohammed opposed. Mohammed himself did not disrupt the freedom of his wives. Mohammed allowed himself to be ridiculed and acknowledged his own weaknesses. Unlike ISIS, Mohammed forbade attacks on civilians and treated prisoners of war appropriately.
It's a mess but Obama didn't cause it and he knows he can't easily cure it.
