I don''t understand you question? It seems you are arguing semantics. If God said don't do 'x' because of death then to me at least I understand that 'death' would equal 'knowledge of the 'evil'. Though God warned about eating of the tree which was the knowledge of good and evil. So what was the good that that learned? Probably something about the nature of God as opposed to our rebellious human nature I guess? Either way I don't see the need to have to experience a thing to understand it's moral (or other) consequence.
