Your inability to imagine fires and floods just means your own capacity is limited. Sure, smog and ocean acidification are problems, attack your own *** all you like, I don't disagree! Pollution and climate change have some connection, but they're not the same thing.

In terms of getting your head around natural climate change, consider that within very recent history (only tens of thousands of years), the sea level has fluctuated so much that multiple times land bridges formed and disappeared between Australia and New
Guinea. We freak out because of the possibility of altering the sea level a little bit over the next hundred years as though it is supposed to be stable! If we happened to have developed all our technology at a trivially different time we might have been building our waterfront mansions on what today are seabeds. In very recent history Kakadu wasn't yet a wetland. In very recent history, a lot of Australia's deserts were forests. The reason we're seeing all these floods and fires now is that it's the first time we've been watching. No one was documenting these things for the last few million years.

I won't argued without you about production cost. Obviously if your ingredients are almost free your production costs are low. Makes perfect sense, what was I thinking? What other costs could possibly be involved?
