the tree of knowledge was so named because the partaker assumed for themselves the right to determine what was good and what was bad. This is Gods jurisdiction ,but Satan deceived Eve into thinking that if she ate, she would be enlightened, and God was withholding something good from her by commanding her to refrain from eating it.
If it was God's jurisdiction, you can't blame Adam, because, prior to his gaining the knowledge, he could not have been expected to understand that what he was doing was wrong.
