WRT to other comments I do accept all of them. The conveyancer's details have been recorded in the contract of sale which was how I made the formal offer and it got accepted.
I will call the conveyancer and ask him if there is a conflict of interest. The transaction should be fairly straight forward but as mentioned elsewhere if things do go wrong, they can go really wrong and you may not find out until much later when you try to sell the property.
