But to get back to the subject of this forum - just spoke to a family in-law relo of mine - (actually a Labor voter) - and got the confirmation of what I've been saying - and this person has Tamil relatives, and relatives and friends in high places in Colombo - some of them Tamils themselves - their history going back ages -

This person came here under strictest conditions, some time after WW2 - had to have medicals, lung X Rays - prove their family history, tell what they had in the bank - promise to work -
was told what I already knew - that there is NO Tamil oppression
in Sri Lanka - and that the local Sri Lankan community knows for sure that these latest boatloads (some of them launching from Sth. India - the actual ancestral home of the Tamils) are coming solely for their real purpose - well prepared and financially prepared economic "refugees." This person knows the ropes - an ex- Ambassador to a European country amongst their relatives. Can't say which country. But this opinion not just wild speculation. They know!
