expedia were focused on GROWTH, that is growthing market share and revenues, whereas WTF was short term focused and were trying to turn a profit and pay dividends as that's what the Australia market wants to see. Well we just saw which strategy won.
rule no 1 don't listen to analysts when it comes to growing a technology business. They fail to look at the long term strategy and bigger picture. It's winner takes all in these markets and scale wins.
eg apple only just started paying a dividend, sometimes growing your market share and top line revenue are way more important to protect your business.
