I'm 'making money' from my trading even now, Macro. The trick is to convert the outrageous profits you make from specs in boom times into income-producing bluechips. (You'll know it's time to make this prudent transition when you feel unassailable, like a 'king of the universe', and every man and his dog has a tip to offer.)
I've done it now through several cycles and will no doubt do it again. Meanwhile, I can accumulate my favourite specs while they are on the nose.
