"Significantly increase" is an understatement. If the entire 2.7Mt vanadium resource were given over to VRBs, it would give roughly 24h of storage at Australia's current generation rates. But this is roughly 1/30th of the world's known vanadium resource, while Australia only uses about 1/400th of world electricity.
I'm using an unrealistically extreme scenario here, but the point I'm trying to illustrate is inescapable. If VRBs become a substantial part of the future energy mix, demand will vastly outstrip supply and send the price of vanadium through the roof.
