Long time ago I had quite a few dollars in a brilliant mine off Legazpi….Lafayette (LAF)….I managed to get out with most of my holding at small loss…just before a major typhoon hit and the locals blamed the mine for killing their fish etc….It just died in the stinking Philippine legal system….I did take a hit at the end losing what little I had left in the company - but it could have been a lot worse. The pity was - it was a brilliant mine…..would have been a great investment if it ran its course….And now Koreans own it…and anyone who complains - the Koreans can quite legally - buy. Our problem overseas- is we are hobbled by ethical laws….Our competitors, largely are not….Being civilised in a lake of piranhas….just stupid….
