Olly, until a few years ago The Australian was my preferred newspaper. But following the massive change in the manner in which it operates I have indeed done as you suggest and no longer buy it or subscribe. I nevertheless accept that others should be able to buy what they want to read.
That does not mean that I have no right to express an opinion about that media organisation and to make comment based on reports about that media organisation itself - Murdoch's very own reported boasts, changes in editorial staff, the investigations into Murdoch's UK empire for phone hacking etc.
These days I rely much more heavily on the balanced coverage of The ABC and after that my first port of call for news now is:
