the spirit is your conscious mind, i.e., the aspect of your mind that objectively experiences sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, thoughts, emotions, heavenly joy, peace, etc

the soul is the emotional aspect of your mind, which produces emotions such as peace, love, joy, lust, addiction, anger, fear, angst, terror, etc

for example, if I ask you the question: "How are you feeling today?", if you feel sad, it is the soul that is sad. if you feel happy, it is the soul that is happy

but what allows you to experience or know this happiness or sadness is the spirit

the spirit is like a mirror & the soul is like what is reflected in the mirror

in fact, not only does the spirit experience the emotions produced by the soul - but the spiritual can experience emotions in an objective manner (rather than be a slave to them)

for example, a Bosnian insults you & you get angry & cut the Bosnian's throat with a switchblade, like a good Croatian . then you end up in prison for 25 years

here, your holy rational pure spirit was unable to objectively view the soul's anger & choose not to cut the Bosnian's throat. instead, the soul caused you to sin. your soul controlled you, like a puppet (rather than your spirit freeing you)



Jesus & his Apostles explained in the Bible quite well about the soul. the soul is the human heart that either makes itself loving, pure & free for salvation or defiles/pollutes itself for its own damnation

Jesus did not explain the soul as the Catholics or Hindus do, as something that exists after death

the soul is like the conscience & integrity of a person, that is either saved or damned

for example ,if the mind is addicted to drugs or pornography, this is the damnation of the soul. the soul has not freedom. the soul is terrorised & tormented by its own poverty & insatiable & unquenchable desires

only the clear awareness of a clean & objective spirit can cure this damnation
