It seems absurd for our Federal Office of Road Safety trying to dictate
vehicle safety standards when we had two very short periods of Australian
    owned vehicle manufacturing here:

-a few years after the WW2 when Holden assembled for GM
    &
-in the late 70's early 80s when Leader Trucks manufactured the Leader
    brand in Toowoomba Qld.

Japan, the EC and the USA have by far the best technology and the
the car populations to measure, design and implement motor vehicle
safety, emissions and vehicle security standards and now that we
have Free Trade Deals with the USA & Japan, we should not be imposing
silly local vehicle certification standards which, in effect, amount to
trade restrictions, against our small Australian companies and only
benefit Multinational Auto Manufacturers and high vehicle prices.

Either we have Free Trade or we don't; so write to our Trade Minister Robb
and voice your concern and point out to him that the abolition of FORS
would save taxpayers $100s of Millions a year which should be in line
with Liberal Austerity policy measures and that this money saved could be
invested in better roads thereby materially improving road safety.

moorookamick (your next Trade Minister. for the Grumpy Old Men Party !!!!)
