I have been told that most of the job cuts will not be redundancies and that each division has a target that can be as high as a 20% reduction. They are calling it "Performance Management". Basically the managers have to find ways of showing the targeted staff have not performed their duties adequately. They do this by saying that the "bar has been raised" in regards to performance. If 17% of your staff are underperforming what does this say about management effectiveness. If you have been performing your roll for 5 years and received good ratings how all of a sudden can you not be performing? To me this just smacks of Woodside wanting to save a dollar by not having to pay redundancies and the managers wanting to protect their bonuses.
