    This is true. China's pushing harder than any country in the world to bring renewables (particularly solar PV) forward - but as I alluded to earlier, the panel production capacity simply isn't there yet. Here: this shows historical and projected (based on current investment) production of PV panels. The take-home message: while worldwide 100GW of solar panels has been installed to date, it's expected that by 2020 production will be roughly 100GW *per year*.

    Meanwhile, this one is what truly sounds the death knell for coal: history has shown that every 10-fold increase in solar PV generation capacity yields a 4-fold *decrease* in costs. It's already a winner at the retail level; very, very soon it'll be the outright winner.
