Thanks for posting this. This was all pretty badly handled. It's not like Rex can have been rushed off their feet such that announcements had to be pushed out in a hurry with poor communication being the result.
Speaking of communication, presuming he was reported correctly, I am not sure how the following statement to the ABC by Mr Olsen:
'On the same day the results of the feasibility study were announced, managing director Mark Parry also stood down, but Mr Olsen says the two announcements were not related.'
is anything other than inconsistent with the statement in the Managing Director Resignation Media Release of 8 August:
'Dr Carland said, “Given the delay to the Feasibility Study to concentrate attention on a smaller scale start-up, the Managing Director’s role will take on a new focus during this period. In view of this Mark has decided to step down.” '
Can't see how the two announcements cannot be related?
I also take issue with what appears to be a lack of transparency in announcements. A statement that 'studies have identified other options that the Company believes should be investigated' provides no context. After how many years getting this project going did someone belatedly do a study and suddenly realise there was another way to get the mine underway - a eureka moment? It is possible that discussions with potential financiers led them down this path. If there is interest from potential financiers but only under a different start up model - why not communicate this in general terms? Perhaps this change could also have been precipitated by the proposed mining lease conditions? If so, why not communicate this in general terms? I understand that a company does not want to highlight its difficulties, such as potential difficulties getting finance. But, as it stands, the announcements bereft or reasons demonstrate there are obviously problems - shareholders are left to try to fill in the gaps and work out what has happened.
I have left my sentiment as none as I am trying to figure out where I think this is all headed.
