Without having any idea of the actual circumstances, you may be correct that the accident may have happened even if the driver was sober. It's very difficult to know, and.....perhaps the driver was sober????

It does of course, remind us of one of the very real dangers of drink driving in that, it is quite possible that you may be involved in an unavoidable accident through no fault of your own, but because you are found to have an illegal amount of alcohol in your blood, may end up facing charges of manslaughter, or some other serious charge.
Nothing alters the fact that this is something that will torture the families of the victims for the rest of their lives. We all need to be aware of this everytime we jump behind the wheel of a car. They are deadly objects and you just never know what's around the corner.
