The Bluegen unit by itself is only 60% efficient, you must pay extra to connect it up to space heating or a hot water service, so I was told when I enquired a few years ago, so the 26,000 euro cost would be higher. The 26,000 just gets you the BlueGen unit setup, unless they have changed, but I haven't seen anything that states anything different.
If you look at it from a govt perspective or the large generators perspective, CCPP over BlueGen everytime, otherwise there would have been large orders by now. It simply wont happen because they are a factor of 40 times too expensive. Govts will however spend a few dollars/pounds/euros here and there on these, for nefarious reasons, but no more. This is exactly what has been happening for the last 5 years.
Look at today's announcement, admittance that all the prior stacks to the latest ones degraded in less than 5 years, with the new ones lasting 5 years. How much does a new stack cost? plus installation of course??
As it's the heart of the unit, my guess would be in the thousands of euros, does anyone here know? How much energy does each stack take to make? When everything is considered, including transport to lots of separate properties for installation and maintenance, is there really any energy efficiency saving at all?
Look at warranty claim provisions, over the last 2 years only $5.1m, or over $10,000 per unit sold!! Think of all the energy used in servicing all those spread out units. The company is really guilding the lily with the claims of CO2 savings by the BlueGen, because if you add ALL the energy expended they are way behind a CCPP plant.
