You are being far to simplistic. Life is dynamic-things change, household incomes change, people now have kids well inrto their 30ies where as it used to be early 20ies. Mum now gets back to work asap where as she would have stayed home. Interest rates have gone down, the price of many consumer products have gone down, air travel is now cheap as chips and the price of locations change. Take Port Melbourne for example-used ot be a crime riddled dump and now its a mega expensive trendy location.

Things change and if you get stuck always looking to rthe past you wont move forward.

Fact is we live in the best country in the world and you can easily buy a brand new home only 50 minutes from the city. I really cant see the problem, except envy and a I want it now' attitude.
