Just my 2c worth; oil and water don't mix. The oil stays on top of the water. I think when they say an oil column of x mtrs. its is exactly that. They may drill down further pass the oil, but they then will tell you where the water contact lies.
I don't think you can get an emulsion (mixture of oil and water) unless you beat it up, and I don't that happens in nature.
But let's hope it all oil, nothing but oil hundreds of meters of it.
BTW we are waiting for the same thing over at the FAR camp for FAN 1 as well.
