I know I will sound callous here but I don't donate to charities who provide food aid to Africa. As mack67 said, poor Africans have large families to provide for the parents in their old age and also because they have a high infant mortality rate. When a famine strikes and food aid dispersed, instead of 1-3 children surviving there are now 4-6 surviving. A result is no extra food after the famine, just more mouths to feed and a continuation of a horrid cycle. I don't know the answer but I do believe that money and food definitely isn't the answer to a complicated problem.
