People can die from an infected tooth, from stepping on a nail and the following infection and from things like a blocked intestinal tract...
Doctors are not gods who can wave magic wands and magically cure everybody...
When you have a significantly large group of people one or more of that group will die from some problem that either is not recognized as a problem or the doctors dont diagnose correctly, of the poor fellow just does not respond the the treatment given...
They say that some 30% or so of all ICU deaths are from doctor/nurse errors of one form or another, what they call iatrogenic deaths, so even having the best medical care is no guarantee that you will survive the treatment...
That is just the way life is...
