Surfrat, You may indeed have a point about Joyce's people skills but my post was about outsourcing, transport economics and childish name calling. You didn't address any of it. I am more interested in where Qantas is now than then and now I see Qantas as being in a position to move on. I do appreciate that you dont like Joyce and also that recognition of staff is important but it is probable you wont want to hear about Joyce's preparedness to deal with an ex government organisation that was really in no position to compete in the modern world. Qantas needed and needs some hard surgery. Inevitably this impacts on staff and most particularly on people who think Qantas can go back to "the good ol days"
Happy, committed and informed staff are critical but a constant noise down the back is not the sign of a positive approach either. Joyce wont be there forever, in the meantime he has a job to do and you dont like it.
In relation to my time as an investor in Qantas, I stayed right away over the last 10 years. It was clear that Qantas in particular and the aviation industry in general were undergoing major transformations and huge amounts of equity were being burned.
I have entered the market since January (1.01) and IMO Qantas is almost in a position to start rebuilding value.
I am not necessarily a defender of Joyce but from my exalted position -)) I don't feel all that qualified to make a judgement. The board and institutions support him and anecdotally, stuff is getting done. I think it is counterproductive to just rabbit on about his personality ad nauseum.
