Thanks Surfrat (tears up prepared post). I jsut think that name calling always ends up badly. I do not have a brief for defending Joyce but I am not necessarily as outraged as you are at the things he has done. And I am not at all sure that another competent CEO would not have done the same thing. It is true that he seems a little reserved as a people person but that is hardly a hanging offence. It doesnt necessarily follow that he is therefore just arrogant. On the other hand maybe he is but it is not the main game IMO. Look, you may well be right about aircraft selections etc but these are not all Joyce's making. In any case Qantas has had other ingrained institutional issues that have also had to be dealt with. We will probably just simply disagree about the out sourcing. It is a way of both making maintenance more efficient and wiping out a bunch of ingrained workpractises in one fell swoop. If you are claiming that the old Qantas wasnt completely and utterly bound in bad work practises you haven't been looking.
You should also wonder why Joyce appears to have the backing of the board and large instos. It doesnt follow that they are just fools because of that. I never underestimate what I do NOT know about what is going on.
