I agree Westcoast - BHP and RIO are the most inept players in a very inept market. They lose billions on takeovers that seem driven by little more than ego and hunches. They pay miserable dividends and haven't recovered their share prices since the downturn during the GFC.
Australian bankshares have doubled in the same time while still paying excellent dividends. Classic microeconomic theory my ****. These guys are just lucky they inherited some decent rail lines from previous management or they'd be broke by now.
