The is why (as a tech geek) I far prefer Turnbulls MTM model of NBN.
Absolutely the copper on the street needs to be replaced by fiber, but the last mile to the homes is the real tricky part. IMO in 10 years time we will see the connection from the node to the home move not from copper to fiber, but copper to exceptionally high bandwidth wireless. Just makes so much more sense.
