Labor and their supporters have precious little to win voters for the next election.
It will be fascinating to watch. At present they have the luxury of just criticising without having to nominate any policy. Or responsibility.
But at some point they will have to answer questions like; "what is labor's policy on boat people"?
a.) "We will re-open the flood gates..." I don't think so. Not many votes in that.
b.) "We will follow the government's working policy..." I don't think do.
It will be very interesting to see just what they come up with. They've got 18 months to work on it.
I asked the question yesterday; Should the top 2% of taxpayers pay more than the current 26% of revenue they are paying? and not one respondent answered the question. Too hard. But come election time, they will have to come up with some answers if they really want to get back to government. Maybe they would really prefer to whinge interminably from opposition.
