I have held DOW for a long time, and I'll admit to not keeping my eye on it to the extent that it deserves. I hold 6,363 DOW shares, which cost me $39.5K about five or six years ago. Initially DOW did well, but subsequently the SP reversed, and my holding is now worth about $28K, so I carry a paper loss on DOW. The fact that I still hold it means I see merit in DOW, because I have started of exiting holdings that I bought long ago.
I hold 135,000 NWH, which cost me $172,000, and they are worth $116.8K, so I am behind on that one too. When I invested in NWH, it was in the nature of a punt, and in fact I only looked at it in a comparison process that I went through when I analysed BYL. I punted on both as a pair. I am just over $100K up on BYL on paper, so it saved the day. I hold just under 800,000 BYL.
My substantial winner has been TGA, where I have a paper profit of $660K, plus I have taken about $50K profit this calendar year.
