re: hc - an excellent contrarian indicator Thanks Nobby and I realize a traders needs differ..
But I do reckon Wespoint is a good lesson
look at the sums lost and then at the opportunity costs
And WHY because of commissions...To the many commission driven ( real estate Stocks brokers etc )
The investable universe is primarily what generates commissions.... And these are the ones that generate the visibility....That is why all that money got put into Westpoint and not say a Vanguard Index Fund or street tracks ETF... How many financial planners even have them on their lists ??
Same with small company shares...No one can earn commission So No research and No visibily..
And that is the case before We even worry about competence... The best investments may be the ones
that are not in the commission earning universe and they might be the most infrequently posted stocks on a stock forum.. Reading about apple and walmart for example ..various times they were not on the radar of the commission chasers.. But that was the time to buy..
