HFT are only a problem for those that get caught up in the day to day fluctuations of the share price. On a positive side, shorting can provide an opportunity to buy shares at a lower price to help accumulate shares in a business that have good fundamentals and bright future.
Anyone that just blindly follows recommendations of any urgers and not checking the fundamentals and company financials probably deserves what they get.
