Opal digger you think that if people blow all their savings on comsumables that it won't affect you. It WILL affect you because high current account deficits mean that eventually the reserve bank will have to raise interest rates to continue to attract foreign investment. EVERY fiat currency that has ever existed has eventually inflated away and devalued to zero because governments cannot resist printing more and more money. So even if you continue to save money it will be gradually devalued by inflation. Just have a look at the ABS website and you can calculate for yourself just how much everyone has lost.
