Maybe you are correct in assuming gold was bought for its own technical reasons ... but up until now gold has been inverse of the $US.

Instead, the impression I got was ... for a day or so there was a bit of scared money around and it does look like gold found a bit of extra support and did not trade solely as a function of the $US.
