I ask this question in all sincerity meercat, what is it exactly about the number of shares on issue that makes you believe it will cripple a company later on? I'm going to presume you're fully across the market cap argument, because I don't believe you don't understand that.

So, why would I care what the price per share actually was at any time in a companies life, when my focus should be the price of "My" share. So if we have a stock with a market cap of $100m, and I take a stake in it today of .1% of it I'm going to need to fork out $100k, how many shares that buys doesn't much matter. Provided the issue of new shares adds to the value of the company, the market cap should appreciate with the increasing issue.

Now if your hung up on the price of each individual share, then consolidation would seem to be an exciting way to a ten bagger. To my mind that's just as silly as worrying about too many shares issued giving a low price. I don't care if it goes up or down "x" cents per share, I care about "x"%.

I tried thinking along the lines of 0.5c being the minimum step, so the market cap has to jump 3-4% for every move, but the thing is pretty liquid so that doesn't seem to be making any difference.

I'm right out of ideas meercat, I cannot find any reason why shares on issue should be a problem.

    What is it?
