    Moondoong,

    you say,

But then it is my understanding that Jesus said we could eat anything that could be eaten

    i say,

no he did not, he specifically said,

    Matthew 5 17 20

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven

Christ never ate anything that wasn't clean according to the law of God.

    Think about it,

Peter spends three years with Christ when he was alive,

Peter saw Christ after he rose,

    and yet,

    Acts 10 12 15

Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean

I ask you, why didn't Peter say "öf course, i can now eat anything that i like because the law has been passed away, or nailed to the cross"

    answer,

Because Peter fully understood after his three years with Christ and his meeting of Christ after he rose THAT THE LAW HAS NOT BEEN PASSED AWAY and THE LAW HAD NOT BEEN NAILED TO THE CROSS.

whoever came up with these anti-Christian teachings, it obviously wasn't Jesus.
