My understanding is that CSEM (very successful method used by Tullow Oil) cannot differentiate between water and oil in limestones.
That was the reason why SHELL walked. They knew it could be either water or oil, but not sure of which. Well, we now know (from FAN) that it must most likely be oil (hence the derisked factor mentioned).
So are we now more confident than before FAN? You'll have to say yes won't you? Is SHELL disappointed? Bet they are. Question is will they likely be back? May be. Someone interpreted FARJOY's comment on the Dutch as being SHELL! You'll have to say that to spend millions on the 10% holdings, they are confident either thru their own research or ...?
They are not going to dump their shares in a hurry without causing pain to themselves and us, so I think it's pretty safe to follow the smart money, theirs. I am holding.
