Pinto, the governor general may have been a drunk but at the end of the day it was the acts of the PM that lead to his dismissal. The ironry of your post is that your responce is as shallow as those portraing Whitlam as a good PM, he was not sacked because he was sucessful.
Sorry for being to young to live thru such failure but I am fortunate enough to live thru Rudd and Gillard and Whitlam should be thankful they took the heat off him.
